Nia is like Chocolate - a sensation not easily described - you have to taste it!

You’re burning fat and calories, building your muscles, giving your heart a real workout—but you’re not pounding, running or panting. Your feet are planted, your mind is calm, your body is fluid. Welcome to Nia.” -Natural Health Magazine

We Have Come to Be Danced

Not the pretty dance

Not the pretty pretty, pick me, pick me dance

But the claw our way back into the belly

Of the sacred, sensual animal dance

The unhinged, unplugged, cat is out of its box dance

The holding the precious moment in the palms

Of our hands and feet dance.

We have come to be danced

Not the jiffy booby, shake your booty for him dance

I cannot hate, I cannot separate

Green Belt Certified Blue Belt Nia instructor 082 687 9839 I still vividly remember my first Nia class - it was an experience of “coming home” to my self. The movement felt good-for-my-body and pleasurable for my soul. I was able to release stress and negative energy to allow space for vitality and joy. That evening I went home to my family sweaty, glowing and enthusiastic to explore Nia further. Nowadays I also appreciate the outlet Nia gives me for creativity and self-expression and the sense of community that emerges over time amongst class participants. I do Nia for the stress release, fitness, moving meditation, body sculpting, self-healing and last but not least for the sheer fun of it!

Dancing Through Life

Nia is a powerful mind-body-spirit movement practice. It's done barefoot to diverse music, and it draws from healing arts [yoga, the Alexander technique and Feldenkrais], dance arts [jazz, modern and Duncan] and martial arts [tai chi, tae kwondo and aikido]. Nia is a fun way to get fit, strong & flexible, to lose weight, combat stress & improve wellbeing. It is for any body size, age, fitness level & dancing ability. No experience necessary! No “co-ord” necessary! You will leave sweating, smiling and wanting to come back for more!!
