Not the pretty dance

The movement felt good-for-my-body and pleasurable for my soul. I was able to release stress and negative energy to allow space for vitality and joy. That evening I went home to my family sweaty, glowing and enthusiastic to explore Nia further. Nowadays I also appreciate the outlet Nia gives me for creativity and self-expression and the sense of community that emerges over time amongst class participants. I do Nia for the stress release, fitness, moving meditation, body sculpting, self-healing and last but not least for the sheer fun of it!

It's done barefoot to diverse music, and it draws from healing arts [yoga, the Alexander technique and Feldenkrais], dance arts [jazz, modern and Duncan] and martial arts [tai chi, tae kwondo and aikido].
